The Data Doesn't Lie

Choosing a fertilizer coating is an important decision to ensure a positive return on investment and to prevent soil issues over time.

2026 NDSU Trial Wheat Canola Duram

NanoCote delivered higher yield performance than AGROTAIN™ in a 2026 North Dakota State University trial, even at a 20% reduced rate.

Across wheat, canola, and durum, NanoCote demonstrated yield advantages, showing that growers can get more from their fertilizer investment while using less product.

NanoCote Urea Loss 2024 (1) copy

In a 2023 study conducted by Penn State University, NanoCote Core reduced urea volatile nitrogen losses by over 50% compared to untreated urea.

With just 9.9% nitrogen loss over 72 hours, NanoCote helped retain more nitrogen and improve fertilizer efficiency. Protect your nitrogen investment with NanoCote.

With and without NanoCote

Coat nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium with NanoCote®

Your dry fertilizer program includes more than urea. NanoCote® uses nanoparticles in a granular fertilizer coating that can be applied to a full NPK blend, making fertilizer coverage a concrete reason to choose NanoCote® for your operation.

Review your blend, coating equipment, and application plan with Nano-Yield's technical team before treatment. Follow the directions for your specific formulation.

Common dry fertilizer coating questions

Are there any fertilizers NanoCote is NOT compatible with?

NanoCote® is compatible with most dry fertilizer blends. Do not use NanoCote Core in liquid fertilizers or as a seed coating. Use caution when mixing with high rates of gypsum, lime, soil amendments, or
nitrate fertilizers. Always perform a small batch test when applying to new materials and stacking with additional technologies.

Do nBPT+DCD products work the same as NanoCote®?

Both NBPT+DCD products and NanoCote Core reduce nitrogen volatility and leaching, but in different ways.

  • NBPT slows urea hydrolysis and reduces ammonia volatilization from urea-containing fertilizers.

  • NanoCote® does not contain NBPT or DCD and instead uses patented nanoparticle coating technology. The nanoparticles in NanoCote slow nitrogen volatility by physically binding nutrient ions to keep them from volatilizing. NanoCote also reduces leaching by attaching ions to a larger particle less prone to leaching, and by increasing the rate of plant uptake.

What rate should I use to coat my fertilizer?

The general application rate for urea is 2 quarts of NanoCote Core per ton of fertilizer. Higher rates may be recommended for specific products or blends. Ask Nano-Yield's technical team to review your fertilizer sources, coating equipment, and planned application before treatment.
